Bristol, PA, 10/29/2019 — Lower Bucks Hospital is pleased to announce the promotion of Sonia Mehta, MD as Regional CEO and CMO of Prime Healthcare' s New Jersey and Pennsylvania markets.

Dr. Mehta has served as the Regional CEO and CMO in our Pennsylvania market since March 2018. Through identifying synergies and efficiencies in our Pennsylvania hospitals, she has led that market to an impressive tum-around. I am confident she will work with our leadership in New Jersey to successfully improve the performance of our hospitals there as well, including the performance of our Business Office and Revenue Cycle.

During the transition, Prime Healthcare's Corporate Management Team including Luis Leon and Paryus Patel, MD, will work with Dr. Mehta as her duties expand into New Jersey.

Sonia Mehta, MD is a physician executive with more than 20 years of extensive healthcare management experience. She previously served as CEO/CMO of Lorretto Hospital, a 177-bed independent, safety net hospital in Chicago, IL. During her tenure at Loretto Hospital, she also served as a CMO and Board Member of Better Health Network, a Managed Care Community Network, which was ultimately sold to Molina Health. Prior to Lorretto Hospital, Dr. Mehta worked with the Hospital Sisters Health System, based in Springfield, IL, as President & CEO of the Illinois/Wisconsin Medical Group, a 200+ provider multi-specialty group serving 12 communities in Illinois and Wisconsin. Earlier in her career, Dr. Mehta worked for 489-bed Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL as Executive Medical Director of Immediate Care Centers/Occupational Health/Wellness Programs and Chief of Ambulatory Services.

Dr. Mehta is a board-certified Internist, and received her MD degree from West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, IL. In addition to her MD degree, she received an Executive MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Over the span of her career, Dr. Mehta has served on various healthcare boards. She was one of 20 people selected on serve on Governor Rauner’s HHS transition team in Illinois. She has chaired multiple committees at the Illinois State level for Medicaid transformation. In addition, Dr. Mehta led the Westside Heroin Task Force to help reduce drug related deaths and violence in inner city Chicago.

Dr. Mehta has received national recognition for her leadership and has been ranked amongst the nation’s Top 100 Physician Leaders for last 5 years and has been recognized as one of the “10 Women Physician Leaders to Know” by Becker’s.
