Sonia Mehta, MD, MBA

Healthcare Division II Corporate CMO and Regional CEO – Lower Bucks
Dr. Sonia Mehta is the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Medical Officer
of Loretto Hospital and Corporate CMO and Regional CEO for Lower Bucks
Hospital. A physician by trade, she earned her Executive MBA from Northwestern
University’s top-ranked Kellogg School of Management with a concentration
on strategy, marketing and finance. She has more than 18 years of extensive
inpatient/outpatient, clinical and administrative experience as a physician
executive in a variety of healthcare settings, which include managing
medical groups and hospital operations. Her experience includes extensive
experience in working in complex multi- hospital system environment as
well as independent safety net, critical access & community hospitals.
Administratively, Dr. Mehta has been a strong force in health care over
the past 18 years, holding leadership positions at Victory Medical Center
in Stanley, Wisconsin; Condell Acute Care Centers in Libertyville; Alexian
Brothers Medical Center in Hoffman Estates; Northwest Community Hospital
in Arlington Heights and CEO of HSHS Medical Group, Springfield, IL. Over
the years, she has successfully improved patient satisfaction scores through
quality initiatives, improved financial performance of the medical group
and hospital, as well as achieved significant growth through alignments
and new practice acquisitions.
Since assuming the role as CEO and CMO at Loretto, Dr. Mehta has achieved
a number of successful accomplishments to strategically position Loretto
to have a greater competitive edge in today’s health care market.
Under Dr. Mehta’s leadership, Loretto Hospital received an ‘A’
rating from Leapfrog Group after years of making dramatic improvements
in the areas of quality, patient safety, and overall structural enhancements
to its facilities. Hospital improvements under Dr.
Mehta’s leadership include: the opening of a new retail pharmacy
on its main floor to accommodate the community and to ensure it is providing
continuum of care to its patients; renovation to its inpatient pharmacy
to include a state-of-the-art workspace and computer system to better
serve patients while they are in the hospital’s care; a Cardiac
Catheterization Laboratory (also known as the cardiac cath lab); state-of-the
art diagnostic imaging suite; and new doctors and expanded medical services
Dr. Mehta also led the way for Loretto Hospital to coordination of care
and health partnerships with other health facilities such as PCC Wellness
and becoming a member of the Better Health Network Accountable Care Entity
(ACE), a new process of coordinating healthcare services in Illinois to
new potential Medicaid recipients as well as to families already receiving Medicaid.
She has been actively involved in giving presentations on various medical
subjects including: Hypertension, Osteoporosis, Obesity, Stroke, Diabetes
etc. for community awareness. Client company presentations on topics like
HIPAA, DOT guidelines, Functional Capacity Evaluation, Stress testing,
CT heart scan and its usefulness.
Dr. Mehta is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including: 16

Board, the Loretto Hospital Foundation, West Side Insurance Company (Captive
in Grand Cayman), IAMACF BOARD and Illinois Compensation Trust. She co-chairs
IHA’s Safety Net Committee.
Dr. Mehta is an honors graduate of NHL Municipal Medical College of Ahmedabad,
India, where she received her medical doctorate. She completed her medical
residency in Internal Medicine at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park and
a coveted Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.
